Chinese Paintings on Silk - Gongbi & Mogu
画于真丝上的国画 - 工笔和没骨画
Painting on silk is a traditional way of painting in Asia. Methods vary, but using traditional supplies of 100% silk fabric, stretched in a frame, and applying textile paints or dyes is the beginning of an amazing creative process in making textile art. Apart from Gongbi style, some of the artworks displayed here are also in Mogu (没骨)style, which is a Chinese painting skill, it literally means "boneless". On paintings in the style of mogu, forms are made by ink and colour washes rather than by outlines.
